What are your thoughts on:

What drew/draws you to music vs any other creative outlet/art form?

I honestly don’t know. I started singing in church when I was a kid. The clichè story, hah. And I saw how it could positively affect people. Touch them without touching them, you know? I guess wanted to keep growing with that, so I did.

What’s the most played song on your phone right now?

Sheesh, probably something Kanye. Old Kanye, hah. I bump late registration almost everyday.

Tell us about, “Ready.” What was the process like creating that song?

SK sent me that beat and they honestly made it real easy. I came up with a melody on the spot and then sat with it for a few to get the lyrics out. I don’t like writing much down. I’ll just record voice memos if I’m not in the studio. I probably have 1000s of unfinished memos, hah. But yea with Ready, I knew I wanted it to have a summer vibe but a timeless kind of feel. Where in the winter it still reminds you of summer.

Describe your musical background training. Are you classically trained or self-taught? And how does that impact your approach when creating music?

I’m self-taught for the most part. I learned how to play the keys by listening to my favorite songs and playing along with them. I think that helps my creative process to be a little more natural. There’s no real structure. It’s all feel.

As a creative, what are the different ways you’ve used your talent/gifts/platform to give back to your community?

I think art in general is a universal language. Music transcends borders and cultures and brings people together. Beyond that, music has given me a platform to influence a large group of people. I do my best to send out a positive message to everyone who’s willing to receive it.

What is your favorite part of what you do?

Man, hah, there’s a lot. I make music for a living. I’m blessed. Sometimes I’ll look back at a song I wrote and reflect on the fact that it didn’t exist before I created it. It’s a literal representation of something being created from nothing. That’s unreal to me.

If you could manifest your future right now, where do you see yourself as a creative in five years?

Ultimately I want to help other creatives. I want to build my artistry and platform in order to use that as a foundation for others. Give them the path that I had to figure out. I feel like that’s missing in this industry. Too many ppl that figured it out and keeping game away from other talents.

How long have you been working on your craft?

As long as I can remember, hah. I’m always trying to grow and learn new things. Make every day better than the next and be a better artist every day.
